What are your product grading standards?
All records are graded conservatively. In an attempt to give customers an accurate impression of condition
rather than adhere to somewhat arbitrary criteria, The Great Escape gives an "overall presentation" grade,
supplemented when necessary with additional remarks. For example: where some dealers will not allow
a cut corner on an otherwise near mint jacket (often
automatically relegating it to a VG+ at best), we
may grade such a record as NM and note the cut-out
mark (thereby letting you know what it "really" looks
like: a near-perfect record with a cut corner).
LPs are graded cover first, followed by the grade
for the vinyl. All vinyl marked as "NEW" or "CUTOUT" in our
database is new and direct from the manufacturer.
What is a "used" CD?
We buy and trade for only the finest quality pre-owned CD's. We guarantee all cd's 100%.
What is a cutout?
Cutouts are items that have been deleted by the record label. We order them weekly from a remainder house. These are available in limited quantities and take
about 7-14 days to process. Cutouts are new and usually sealed though sometimes they may have a "cut" or hole punched through the
packaging.
I live overseas, Can I order DVDs and VHS movies compatible with my player?
At this time, TheGreatEscapeOnline.com only offers NTSC movies and US region compatible DVDs. Unless you have an adapter or a Region-free DVD player, it is unlikely our films will play in your player. All import DVDs are US compatible, and are generally region-free (to play anywhere).
What is a "backorder" and when do you stop trying to get my back ordered item?
If an item is unavailable from our suppliers for immediate shipment, we will place
it on backorder. We will continue to order them until we find the
item or you cancel the backorder. You are only charged for items
when they ship to you.
What if I want an item that is not listed?

When do items generally ship?
- Used items - usually ship within 24hrs.
- New items - usually ship within 2-3 days.
- Import items - usually ship within 3-7 days.
- Cutouts - usually ship within 7-10 days.
Is your server secure?
Yes. When you click the 'checkout' button to enter
your payment/address information, a lock will be displayed in the
bottom, right-hand corner of your browser, indicating that all data
sent to our site at that point is securely encrypted.
Can I trade items in for store credit or cash?
We encourage trading. Just e-mail us a list of what you want to trade. We will issue you a
credit to spend on any item within our website.
I ordered a Playboy Magazine - why do I have to fax you my ID?
Laws in the State of Tennessee restrict the sales of adult material to persons over age 18. We must have proof of age in
order to comply with these laws.
A link on your site gave me an error. What do I do?
If the problem persists, please contact us with all the
information you can provide, including a copy of the page (if possible), browser version, platform/OS, and a description of what
you were doing when the error occurred.
I have not received a confirmation email of my order. Is it being
processed?
If, after 24hrs, you have not received a
confirmation mail, please email contactus@TheGreatEscapeOnline.com, and we will
send you a new copy.
Can I get a print-out of your catalog
sent to me?
With our inventory expanding and changing everyday, we prefer to keep our catalog as updated as
possible and printing out all of our 500,000++ items every day is
impractical. However, you can download parts of our catalogs from the Catalog Downloads section on the right column at any time in a zipped format. The catalogs are
then viewable with any text-file viewer or word
processor.
What credit cards can I use to place my
order? or What other forms of payment do you take? We
currently accept check or money orders, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, and Discover card. US Dollars (well-concealed) are also accepted, but we do not accept responsibility for payments lost in the mail (insure or register the letter!)
Do you distribute my e-mail address to any outside parties?
No. Our e-mail list is for the Great Escape use only to let you know of any
customer specials or new developments with TheGreatEscapeOnLine.com.
